How to report a Truck Accident to my Insurance Company?

November 30, 2021 Commercial Truck Insurance

All accidents, regardless of fault or amount of damage, must be reported to the
carrier as required by the policy. The insured should not wait for a police report in
order to notify carrier of an accident. Any accident reported after 10 days is
considered late reported and can jeopardize the policy status, require mid-term
underwriting action or affect renewal options.

In the event of an accident, you can report it by following the steps below:

1. Look for the contact telephone number of the carrier that is included in the initial
package delivered by the agency when initiating the policy. Reporting the event
immediately will speed up the claim.

2. Please gather as much information as possible at the scene such as: photos or
videos, third party’s information (personal data & insurance info), police report
number, as well as the vehicle and driver information, what were the
circumstances that generated the accident and, if any cargo was being hauled
during the accident, you must check if it suffered damages as well.

3. You must send to our office or directly to the insurance company all the
documents related to the accident, such as: Bill of lading, Bill of towing, payment
receipts in general, estimates of repairs and others.

The ideal in case of suffering an accident is to report it directly to the insurance
company. However, we as your insurance agents are always at your service to
help you throughout the process. If you decide to report the accident through our
office, just click on the following link Claims and one of our representatives will contact you as soon as possible.

At Preventty – USA Specialty Insurance we recommend you cooperate with the
adjusters so that the investigation is carried out in the best way possible, this will
help speed up the negotiation and payment/reimbursement processes, as well as
avoid any inconveniences with the policy.

Finally, we invite you to always review your insurance certificate to check your
coverages to confirm if your policy meets your needs and, in this way, you can
avoid losing money in the event of an accident.
